Workers at RVCA

RVCA is a relatively new store in the Haight-Ashbury dictrict. It opened up about five years ago and has been in the same location ever since. Our group interviewed one of the employees that worked there and asked her how she felt RVCA affected the community. She said that on the one hand the store is somewhat antithetical to the free-thinking “hippie culture” in the area. She was sad that some of the older more grungy stores were being closed down. But she also said that RVCA is working hard to help the community in the Haight as well. She says that they support local artists and have a gallery in the store just for them to display their work. Additionally, they give away free gift cards worth up to $100 for artists who win there monthly competition.
